Here a few pictures of his nursery/ decor purchases that we have made to start decorating for a boy... because Harrison totally cares about decor.
And here is Adrienne putting "pennies" in brothers piggy bank. She loves to put pennies in her own piggy bank so of course she also loves to put them in brothers.
Even though we all know the baby doesn't care what the room looks like it is very fun to start decorating/ organizing. I tend to be a planning type of person so for me this part of th pregnancy journey is always fun. I also found that after i set up a room for Harrison Adrienne talks about her brother a lot more. She frequently walks by the room and opens/ closes the door. Turns the light on and off and comments on the fact that it is her brothers room.I had never really though about how significant this process would be for her in preparing and adjusting mentally for having a baby in the house but it seems to have really brought her out of her little shell.
We also took Adrienne to the doctor for my 24 week appointment and she was of course curious about why we were at the doctors. She was very social and kind with the midwife and seemed a little bit interested in her brothers heartbeat when she heard it. It was very fun for me to include her, and i hope that including her in the pregnancy and baby preparation process will help her adjust, although she is still going to be in for a big surprise when she has to share mommy with a baby.
In addition to preparing for the baby we also had brads mom visiting for the last couple of weeks and did some fun stuff with her. Adrienne enjoyed having grandma to boss around and grandma enjoyed adventures to the north shore, and honolulu, and bus rides around the island. On monday me and Lisa went on a whale watching tour and had a lot of fun watching the sunset from a boat and seeing multiple whales swimming around the ocean. We even got to see one breach which is pretty rare!
Baby bump on the boat
Well there are a few good whale photos in the bunch but i haven't quite figured out how to manage uploading, viewing, and organizing photos through this new apple laptop to maybe i will have better pictures to post soon.
So on to our weekly stats!
Now for the weekly Stats!
How many weeks: 25 weeks and 5 days
This week baby is...... about 13.5 inches long.
This week our baby weighs..... about 1.5 lbs
This week baby boy...is hopefully starting to grow a little bit of hair, and is working on starting this transition from being long and lean to creating that full newborn body that we hope to see at term. He of course needs to develop his lungs and nervous system for many more weeks to come but its nice to know that we are at the point were growth becomes one of his more serious commitments.
Boy or girl? BOY!!!!
Showing: yep
Maternity Clothes: Definitely in maternity clothes, although i can still squeeze into some normal clothes here and there
Best moment this week: I have really taken a lot of joy in watching Adrienne take part in preparing for her brothers arrival. It has been amazing to watch her brain start to understand what is going on in the world around her.
Food cravings: nothing
Miss anything?: Sushi!! beer and wine! everything else i have seemed to find an adequate substitute for but nothing can replace sushi!
Anything making you sick: some smells, maybe some foods still. Not really sure.
Pregnancy symptoms: Nausea surprisingly.
Gender prediction: It's a Boy!
We call our baby: Harrison Allen Gochnauer
Looking forward to: Maui with our little family this weekend!
