13 Weeks, the bun in the oven is almost 1/3 of the way done!

13 weeks this week, and another crazy week as always! We spent the past weekend in Las VEgas with friends and family and had a lot of fun, although i do look forward to heading back to Sin City when i am no longer pregnant someday.

The dog is still a crazy lovey attached to her mama ridiculous giant monster!

Our little monster is the size of a plum! still tiny but fun to have a comparison

And the craziest thing i feel this week is nesting??? I just really want everything int he house to be clean organized and fixed and i want it all to happen RIGHT NOW! but there is never enough time or money in a day to fix all of these things i would like fixed so i will remind myself that we have 7 months to complete our prepare for baby chore list and drive on.

How many weeks: 13 and 1 day
This week our baby is the size of a.... Plum!! About 3 inches, the little monster grew a half inch last week!
This week our baby weighs..... about 1 and 1/4 ounce
This week our baby can...  inhale and exhale amniotic fluid, yay for practice breathing?!?! has fully formed fingertips, if its a girl she already has 2 million eggs, and has veins and organs. Oh and that giant head is now only 1/3 the size of babies body. Starting to be more proportional.
Boy or girl? We wont be able to see until about 20 weeks but its already growing the necessary parts!
Total weight gain/ loss: +2
Showing: Nope, not yet. But definitely feeling like some of my pants are a little snug.
Maternity Clothes: Nope, not yet.
Best moment this week: Well technically it was the end of last week but best moment since last blog entry.... telling our friends in vegas!! really only two of them didnt already know but it was still really exciting to break the news to some of my best girlfriends. Oh, and we told a handful of brads fraternity brothers as well. It was great to see all of their reactions!
Have you told family/ friends: not everyone, im sure the word is spreading faster than i know though.
Food cravings: strawberries, sweets ( any kind of sweet food), spicy foods. I find these cravings to be really odd, i mean sweets are a given i have always had a sweet tooth however i do not like spicy food and this baby LOVES it these days!
Miss anything?: wine/ beer, cold lunchmeat, soft cheeses, sushi!!
Anything making you sick: Still Steamed broccoli! the smell makes me want to vomit.
Pregnancy symptoms: Going to bathroom all the time!
Movement: I've felt something going on in there a few times but its hard to tell if its gas or flutters, id like to think its baby flutters though :-)
Gender prediction: We both really just want a healthy baby but if i had to predict i would say Boy!!! Brad thinks girl, just because that is what his whole family is rooting for and he really secretly wants a boy so he thinks it will be a girl since he wants a boy :-)
We call our baby: little monster, baby, we haven't really chosen an endearing term yet..
Looking forward to: Wedding dress shopping with the girlfriends and easter this weekend.
Soon to be daddy is.... getting really excited about being a daddy, still needs to make a baby name list :-) But did successfully assist me in picking out a baby boy nursery theme, vintage mickey sports theme.

Belly photos soon to be added.

12 weeks and counting!

So, now that i have caught up on the past 6 weeks of events today will start my first weekly post (hopefully).. This week has been great, i'm working night shift for a month so i am completely worthless in my off time just since i am tired but other than that i feel great! So far this pregnancy has been a wonderful experience and i consider myself blessed to feel so great! So, ill just give some basic highlights each week.

I also decided today that im going to buy a pregnancy journal so our baby can read it someday. I love memories, i photograph EVERYTHING! and i know that i will regret it if i don't do something. Tomorrow, i will battle the hundreds of choices at barnes and noble and hopefully choose something wonderful.

So here goes week by week update numero uno!
P.S. I copied this format from a friends pregnancy blog, i think its a wonderful idea and i hope to add more topics as i think of things. So, please let me know what you want to know.

How many weeks: 12
This week our baby is the size of a.... Apricot!! 2.5 inches long.
This week our baby weighs..... about 1 ounce
This week our baby can...  frown, open and close its mouth, respond to outside stimuli. He/She has sex organs, fingernails, and vocal cords! Boy or girl? We wont be able to see until about 20 weeks but its already growing the necessary parts!

Best moment this week: when i received a text message from a random friend saying congratulations, i had no idea this person knew and it was the moment i realized that my mother has been telling everyone she knows. Excited grandma!
Have you told family/ friends: not everyone. We actually plan to tell my best girlfriends this week when we visit Las Vegas!
Food cravings: pasta, strawberries
Miss anything?: wine/ beer, cold lunchmeat, soft cheeses.
Anything making you sick: Steamed broccoli! the smell makes me want to vomit.
Pregnancy symptoms: Tired, emotional, wake up frequently while sleeping.
Movement: Although i know baby is moving i cant feel anything yet.
Gender prediction: We both really just want a healthy baby but if i had to predict i would say Boy!!! Brad thinks girl, just because that is what his whole family is rooting for and he really secretly wants a boy so he thinks it will be a girl since he wants a boy :-)
We call our baby: little monster, baby, we haven't really chosen an endearing term yet...
Looking forward to: Las Vegas with the college friends this weekend, hopefully they don't exhaust me with late nights!
Soon to be daddy is.... getting really excited about being a daddy!

This week i realized that our dog Kaya must have doggy intuition that something is growing inside her momma! She is relentless in wanting to sleep with me, sit on the couch with me, cuddle me in any way possible, or sit on my leg if thats the closest i will let her get. I think its her way of milking all the attention she can get out of us for as long as she can. I think we will  have to take her to training in the next few months so that we can fine tune her obedience skills and listening capabilities, baby will be a big adjustment for our spoiled doggy child!

Until Next Week,

11 Weeks, First Ultrasound!

So, i had my first real appointment at 11 weeks. I was pleased with the provider i saw and she decided to do an ultrasound to confirm my due date. Which was confirmed as September 30th 2013. So we will expect this little monster sometime in September.. i call him/ her a monster in the most loving of ways! Brad missed this appointment because we didnt know they were going to do an ultrasound so i went alone.

Before this appointment i was of course excited but also nervous, i didnt have an nausea/ vomitting at all. which is of course the most talked about and least favorite pregnancy symptom  so i hadnt really felt pregnant except for extreme tiredness, bloating, and forgetfullness! which are all of course classic pregnancy symptoms as well. So, needless to say it was very reasuring to see our baby inside! I felt a surge of happiness, and was so excited after i saw the image of our moving little monster. He/She was kicking, moving arms a little bit, and overall looks amazingly beautiful and healthy. The nurse practitioner was surprised with how clear that image was and so was I. I expected a little bit more of alien like image but what i saw actually has the beginning shapes of a baby face. I could see the brain and heart clearly forming and little tiny toes! The hearbeat was a wonderful sound, i hear fetal heart tones frequently at work but when its your little fetus the heart just sounds so much more spectacular. We were very lucky to have gotten such a clear picture, and the baby is HUGE!!!!

Telling the Family...

At 10 weeks we decided we would tell the family about our little surprise. It was very difficult to keep it a secret for the 4-5 weeks that we had already hit it for, so it was time to share the news. We were both unsure how/ when we wanted to tell everyone and agreed that it needed to be with a gift. And since i had bout a 4 pack of white onesies when i made the daddy one i decided to make grandparents ones.

We decided that March 8th would be the day, and as it approached i got really excited. So of course we slipped to a few people a little bit early. We told both of my brothers the night before. Brittney (my sister in law) responded with a " well i kind of already knew" and the kids seemed excited to have their first cousin on daddy's side of the family! I told my little brother Devon over the phone on thursday night, making him promise not to tell mom before i could and of course he kept the secret.

We told my mom first, her work is on the way from our house to Scappoose, to when we stopped to say hi we gave her a little gift bag with her I love grandma onesie! she was excited, and actually hung it up on the wall in he massage room.  i think since then my mom has decided to tell everyone she knows... i get congratulatory texts from people whose numbers i don't even have saved in my phone!

Later that same night we told both brads parents and my dad and step mom, who were all excited. Brads parents told 2 people before we even left the restaurant. And my dad immediately called his sister. So needless to say all of the grandparents are excited!

An Unexpected Surprise!

Brad and i found out about 6 weeks ago that we are expecting! Yay! Baby Gochnauer is due September sometime near the end of Septemer 2013.  I started this blog to share my pregnancy with friends and family so you can participate in this life changing experience of ours. The goal will be to post each week, hopefully with a picture... but we all know how life works, we fall behind. So i will start with a recap of the day we found out.

To answer the unasked questions: this was a planned pregnancy. We discussed trying/ not preventing at the end of december with the idea that it would take a few months before i was actually pregnant. Surprise! it happened right away, which we did not expect but are of course thankful for. So, as i wasn't expecting to get pregnant so fast and i have had very few of your typical pregnancy symptoms i had only a little tiny bit of suspicion when i took that first test it may be positive. So, on february 8th i decided to go ahead and take a test, not really knowing what to expect and TaDa!!!! it was positive! I then of course took a second one to confirm, which was also positive. Then came the daunting task of how to tell Brad...
I thought a daddy onesie would be perfect and headed to target which had.... not a single unisex daddy onesie. So, i made one!

Brad was elated, and actually jumped with joy when i surprised him with the onesie and pregnancy test when he came home from work that night. I think i wanted to call every person in his phone that night, but we kept it to just a couple close friends that day. And as the weeks progressed we  slowly told a few people at a time.
