16 weeks!

Well i decided that we need a new chalkboard!! This one is a corkboard that i converted into a chalkboard with some paint. Maybe making a new chalkboard will be my project for next week!

Time is going by so fast. It seems like weeks just fly by around here. We are busy busy with lots of events, busy work schedules, and a multitude of home improvement projects. Nesting/ preparing for baby has me on a timeline to get some stuff done this spring/summer so it feels like all of our time off is spent either working towards accomplishing some goals around the house or going to functions with family/ friends. It is going to be one busy summer this year!

In the past week we had visitors at the house, which was fun. Completed multiple projects around the home. I finally finished my end tables for downstairs (just waiting for brad to stain and polyurethane). We installed a pantry. Installed a shelf downstairs. And did some yard work, well brad did yardwork. He pulled out blackberry vines roots and all. Blackberries used to grow like a forest at this house and i think it will take a consistent effort for a a few more years to erradicate them. It doesnt help that the neighbor has a blackberry farm that is encroaching our yard (we may have accidently had some overspray splash onto those bushes when we sprayed the ones in our yard). Call us horrible people, but if you have seen the trailer parked in the neighbors back yard and the trees falling down/blackberries everywhere it is pretty clear that they dont care about much.

Anyways, thats enough about projects.

My pregnancy is still going well. Ive been lucky to have things go smoothly so far. We had a check up this week and all appears well. the heartbeat was strong as usual and we will have our next check up at the big ultrasound in May.

Here are the weekly stats!

How many weeks: 16 weeks and 3 days
This week our baby is the size of an......Orange! a very large orange. About 5 inches, the little monster grew a whole inch last week!
This week our baby weighs..... about 3 and 1/2 ounces. He/She gained a whole ounce last week!!!
This week our baby can...HEAR!! its still primitive hearing but hearing nonetheless. Time to break out some baby books! daddy says he wont read to baby until he knows the sex. I think he wants to start grooming the child to be a sports fan prior to birth and needs to know how to appropriately address the issue prior to starting his persuasions. This week baby is also growing toenails and is able to hiccup!
Boy or girl? We made the appointment for the ultrasound this week. Baby Gochnauer's sex will be seen on May 13th... now just to hope that legs aren't crossed.
Total weight gain/ loss: +4-6 ish. im going to stop sharing my weight gain at some point.
Showing: yeah, just a  little bit, although it really just looks like im gaining wait Ill be excited to look actually pregnant in a few months.
Maternity Clothes: Nope, not yet getting closer though!
Best moment this week: One of my favorite moments this week was when brad texted me some completely off the wall names, they were atrocious. It was fun to find the comedy in them. Another great moment was hearing babies heartbeat together for the first time! We had a check up on monday and brad got to hear the little nugget for his first time. At this appointment i was also reassured that i am feeling movement (flutters) because she found the babies heartbeat right in the location where i have been feeling little flutters. It made me feel like i wasn't just crazy.
Have you told family/ friends: not everyone, i am sure the word is spreading faster than i know though.
Food cravings: I don't really have cravings anymore.
Miss anything?: Sushi!!everything else i have seemed to find an adequate substitute for but nothing can replace sushi!
Anything making you sick: Not much anymore, i ate broccoli this week! yay!
Pregnancy symptoms: same old stuff as last week, nothing really new.
Movement: Flutters :-)
Gender prediction: We both really just want a healthy baby but if i had to predict i would say Boy!!! Brad thinks girl, just because that is what his whole family is rooting for and he really secretly wants a boy so he thinks it will be a girl since he wants a boy :-)
We call our baby: little monster, baby, NUGGET. A good friend at work started asking me how the nugget was doing and it stuck. We constantly refer to baby as nugget now. Its pretty cute..
Looking forward to:  Kathryn Duke 's Bridal Shower!
Soon to be daddy is....  trying to get the yard ready for kaya monster and nugget! Kaya gets a doggy fence this week, yay! And next week we fix our grass and cut down some trees. Spring is here in full force!

Until Next Week,
Shyla
